John Cockerill teams in Côte d’Ivoire complete construction of the Macaci road interchange in Abidjan

John Cockerill’s major projects in Côte d’Ivoire have already been underway for three years, including the construction of 15 bridges in the bush and 2 road interchanges in the city of Abidjan. Several of these projects, such as the bridges at Agboville 1 and 2, Bocanda, Divo, Gagnoa, Korhogo and Dabakala, are already completed and in service.

The last major project to be completed is also on a large scale. This is the new interchange at the Macaci crossroads in Abidjan. With a width of 16.3 metres and a length of 245 metres, this interchange links the town of Abobo to that of Adjamé. Adjamé is a major hub of the country, home to one of the largest open-air markets in West Africa.

John Cockerill Services’ engineers and technicians put in a considerable amount of work over the 17 months of the project. This first interchange project involved a number of stages, including design and execution studies, fabrication of the steel structures, civil engineering works, and the construction of the side roads and the junction, all of which were carried out in compliance with environmental and social measures.

John Cockerill is proud to have played a part in the construction of such an important project, which is vital to the lives of the people of Côte d’Ivoire. The teams are continuing to install essential infrastructure with the Faya Cocody No. 2 interchange.
